How to Learn Math Well
Some students may think that they have no gene in logic so that it’s hard for them to learn math well. I don’t agree with them. There is no doubt that math is a subject which needs the ability to infer the conclusion from the condition which the question gives you, and that makes you to have a logical mind. However, it can be trained via your hardworking and your systemic summarize of learning math.
I’ve known that some of my friends can not learn math well because they have several bad habit. For instance, they usually like to look at the question for a long time but without any action. There is a saying that “Good memory is not as good as a blunt pencil”, it tells us that you need to practice and pay actions more than just thinking. Another suggestion is that you must have a high efficiency during the class, or you have to spend much more time than the one who listen to the teacher very carefully in the class. Nevertheless, a problem comes ------ how can I be effective in the class? I found some advices which were told to us by a Chinese teacher name Zhongxia Li (http://www.lunwentianxia.com/product.free.10006906.1/):
1. Do some preparations before the class begin.
The hardest thing you found in the preparation is the most important thing of the course. You’ll find it easy to the course if you have seen the questions before. Also you can practice your ability for comparing the knowledge and the main idea between what you thought before and what the teacher told you during the class. In addition, this method can improve your ability in analyzing the question.
2. The knack of listening to the class.
First of all, what you should do is to be ready for not only physically but also mentally. And you must pay all your attention to the words what your teacher will tell you, use your eyes, ears, hands, mouth and your heart so that what you learn in class will impress you so much.
3. Pay much attention to the beginning of the class and the end of the class.
When the class starts, the first thing shown to us generally is the content of what we’ll learn today, it’s like the chain which connect the old knowledge and the new knowledge in one system, the end of the class usually include the summarize of the knowledge which are told to us, it is highly recapitulative.
We can easily find out that without your hardworking you will never succeed in the math field. What I’m going to tell you is how to find interested in math.
It is said that a person who has a great interest in something can learn more faster than the one who has a less interest in the same field.
Einstein Albert once said “Interest is the best teacher”. That prove the idea of mine because I’m the one who has a lot of interest in math since my childhood. I used to be good at remember the number of the cars and the telephones, and good at counting and adding. When I grow up I find that I was interested in the machine such as model cars and guns, I tried to take the model apart so that I can know clearly about what was in the model. As I said ”you may have a lot of chances to find the interests for you in the math but most of time you missed it.” So you still have a huge number of opportunities to looking for, that’s what I want to tell you.
In conclusion, most of you are clever and genius in logic, maybe you can not dig your genius out yet. Don’t be worried, just trust you can. Hope this short essay can help you a little.

Of course'Good memory is not as good as a blunt pencil in match' but I think a good memory is still necessary to remember some formula. Thinking and practicing work together is the best way to learn math well. I don't think that practicing is superior to thinking.Contrary thinking usually play an important role in math field. Thank you for providing such good advice on studying math. One day when I am qualified to study math course i will refer the advices above.
ReplyDelete......actcally I really hate maths.I often get cranky when I do the maths exercise.
ReplyDeleteuh....uh...After I see the bolg...uh..I still hate maths!Sorry?
WELL, I DIDN'T LIKE MATH BEFORE. WHEN I LIVED IN KOREA, I NEVER STUDIED MATH,BECAUSE MATH QUESTIONS ARE ALL COMPLICATED. BUT I MET REALLY GOOD MATH TEACHER IN HIGH SCHOOL, I TRIED TO STUDY LITTLE BIT. I THOUGHT MATH IS REALLY HARD TO LEARN AND DIFFICULT, BUT MOST OF MATH QUESTIONS HAS ONLY ONE ANSWER, SO WHEN YOU SOLVE THE QUESTIONS,YOU WILL FIND OUT YOU GOT A RIGHT ANSWER OR NOT. IT IS REALLY EASYER THAN OTHER SUBJECTS. I AM STILL BAD AT MATH BUT I LIKE TO SOLVE THE QUESTIONS!:-)
ReplyDeleteIF SOMEONE DOESN'T LIKE MATH LIKE I WAS, JUST TRY TO STUDY BASIC PROBLEMS AND SOLVE SOME QUESTIONS! WHEN YOU GET RIGHT ANSWER, YOU WILL PLEASED WITH SUCCESS!
I agree with you a bout nathing is hard to learn, just what we need interest to learn particular knowledge. staps that you gave in your essay is really good to follow, about me I am very lagical person, and I like to work with numbers, and math is my favorite aubject. I think math can make the person more attentive and logical. it is not true that moth questions have only one answer, maybe if you main as final answes yes, but math has many method to answer the same question. in my opinion math is fun and I really enjoy math class.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all your suggestion to improvement of mathmatics . Actually , math is not a hard subject to me, because I have intelligence in it and like you a lot of intrests in that subject. As you said above , intrest is a good teacher and preparation is important too . that is true. beside it . there is a another point I want to express is carefulness which means doing a math question carefully and well- knit . you shoud figure out a question step by step instead of a roughly scan on it. so that is important method to learn math well
ReplyDeleteI have read it carefully. It really good for us to learning math.but for math, I have a different point about it.If you want to learn math very well.Doing a large number of exercise are not enough.you need have a talent for math.because math is a logic subject,it need logic thinking so that solve the problem.I have a classmate who work harder than other students on math,he always ask teacher questions and do lots of exercise for math, but his test of result is fair.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, these methods are good for promoting skill on math,as for the ability of math depends on how much talent you have.
Actually I love math. But sometimes I can not learn it well.Math is a important subject, you always use it everwhere.I think math is not very difficult, pay attention to the formula and do more exercises, then it will become easy.
ReplyDeleteHow to learn one thing is also a kind of science. I love math so much. But math need patience, and I lack patience in solving questions. Math is really useful. It is used everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion. The three advices can be applied to not only math but also other subjects.
ReplyDeleteActually, I was good at math when I was a junior high school student. However, I was poor at math when I was a high school student. I think this difference is because I didn't practice math when I was in high school. I didn't homework of math. So, I think repetition is very important for math study.
well, seems you really good at math, and your study skills are really useful. I think some of them are not only useful when we study math but also good for other subjects. And may be i could get some help from you when i can't go through with math in future.
ReplyDeleteI've visited the website you gave above..Zhongxia Li is one of the intellectual Chinese teachers..I very appreciate about the advice of how to learn Math well..I think Math is quite a widely used subject in all kinds of fields..Learning Math is just like creating your life and practicing your thinking abilities.. With no doubt, Math is worth to learn at any time of your life..
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the teacher.I hate math a little actually.Because I think there's a weird connection between math and me.I was good at it when I was in high school, but I failed in it in the college entrance exam,so,even though I think maybe I can do it well,I still dread to choose to learn finance or accounting or other majors connenting to math.Maybe it gives the Psychological shadow to me.
ReplyDeleteI love math so much. For me a, tough math question is more like a pazzle. when i finally solve it, it makes me feel really prode for myself. But i have to agree that chinese style education is qutle evil. Students spent too much time to solve questions. But this kind of homework do have a great function on math skill. American math education, especially at high school. It do not ask student to solve a lot of question. May be there should be a balance to make it better. Not so much solving, but also make student interest in math.
ReplyDeleteyep, math is kind of fun when you are really interested in.But You should really good at logic and have a good memory.Kun's idea i just want to say it's awesome and so professional. If i have any problem,I will go find you, hope you can help me make the hassles down.

ReplyDeleteSome students may think that they have no gene in logic so that it’s hard for them to learn math well. I don’t agree with them. There is no doubt that math is a subject which needs the ability to infer the conclusion from the condition which the question gives you, and that makes you * have a logical mind. FIRST OF ALL, IT WAS WELL WRITTEN. THERE WERE ONLY A FEW MISTAKES. GOOD JOB. ALTHOUGH IT WAS RATHER LONG, I REALLY ENJOYED READING IT. MATH USED TO BE MY BEST SUBJECT, BUT I DID NOT PURSUE IT IN COLLEGE AS MATH SEEMED TO BE UNREAL TO ME IN THOSE DAYS. SO I CHOSE SCIENCE. (WHY AM I TEACHING ENGISH NOW THEN?)
