Today is the Singles Day!!!
I am so surprised that when I searched the Singles Day on Internet, I found that China is the only country which celebrate the special day for singles on Nov. 11(But from the class I found it is not truth, at lest there are three Asian countries have this holiday.).
How do Chinese people celebrate this special day? The most common way to celebrate it is have a dinner with some single friends, have a drink and sometimes hold a party try to end their single life. Besides this, there are still some ways to celebrate it but I have never heard before. For breakfast on Singles' Day, singles often eat four Youtiao (deep-fried dough sticks) representing the four "ones" in "11.11" and one Baozi (steamed stuffed bun) representing the middle dot.
Some singles also choose to say goodbye to their single lives on this day: many attend 'blind date' parties and many people choose to marry on this day. In addition to meaning 'single,' the four 'ones' of the date can also mean 'only one' as in 'the only one for me.' Some people will use this date and this meaning to tell their special someone that they are the only 'one' in their heart(From Wikipedia)
I also found a web site from America. From the web site I found that Oct. 1st is the American Singles day. There are a lot of imformation about the Singles day.http://www.singlesday.com/
There are so many differences between these two countries Singles day, but the main reason of the two Singles day's celebration is the same. Most singles want to find a lover in the special day.
There are many singles in our class right now. How is your guy's Singles Day? Did you find someone to end your single life?

ReplyDeleteSingle Day is a interesting festival, isn't it? because it is my festival. Today, I hang out with my friends and have a small dinner. Even though it is a festival, I am tired of celebrate this festival. I hope to end up it.

The only thing I did on this day was to study and do the homework. I thought the reason why China is the only country which celebrate the single's day is that nowadays China has more and more boring teenagers. They have nothing to do, just want to have fun. They don't realize the responsibility and the value of themselves.
ReplyDeleteToday is my friend's birthday. It's really a special day. She has already got a boyfriend，so being single is nothing with born on that day. There is a saying I like"Single is simple, double is trouble, triple is terrible." It's really fun.

Huh, quite familiar and interesting. From the picture I can imagine that how depressed the single people are, but I never do such thouse things though. Single is not terrible, it refers to how you see it and change it. It is ture that there are still many people that cannot find their real love, they are eager to but afraid of being hurt, you should be serious when you choose someone. I have joined a single party this weekend, I thought that was awesome enthough but not useful enough, calm down and keep waiting your love is more important than force yourself to find one.
ReplyDeleteIn single day, I just sleep and watch movies in my room. When I want to celebrate it, I found that I was so sleepy. So I go to bed hand celebrate single day with a nice dream.

ReplyDeleteIn single day, there is no special thing happened in my life. I spent time to study as usual. I think that being single is not terrible thing in some cases. I still get enough time and energy for study and living.
ReplyDeleteI think single day is just like Valentine's Day. Korea have similar single day. It is on 4/14. We call black day. In black day usually celebrate by someone who does not have boyfriend or girlfriend. Most single people do not want to celebrate these days. I think Nobody wants to feel lonely....Ha-ha

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME FOR ME TO HEAR SUCH A CUSTOM. ONCE I HAD A PARTY ONLY FOR THOSE PEOPE WHO DID NOT HAVE SOMEONE SPECIAL ON THE CHRISTMAS EVE WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. BUT THOSE DAYS ARE GONE. I AM MARRIED NOW. BUT SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO CAME OVER TO MY HOUSE ARE STILL SINGLE NOW... GOD BLESS THEM.
