The Thanksgiving vacation

- First of all, I should apologize that I can not put all these pictures between the words and they are disordered.
- We had planned to have a thanksgiving vacation on my aunt`s home long time ago. On November 26th 2009, we were invited to her house by plane. The day before 26th, we did not sleep at all. Instead of sleeping, we played computer games together. It was a spectacular occasion, 4 people playing computer games and 3 people watching NBA, the rest of them were packaging their stuffs. Because thanksgiving the most famous western familial festival, all the native students have gone. My room is a 4 people room with a 20 inch television, which is one of the largest rooms in Bryan. All our Chinese friends have been to our room for chatting and playing. We were playing games until 4 o’clock, because we had reserved the taxi to airport. Our plane would departure from Lansing at 5:30 in the morning and arrived at Detroit, and then we would fly to Cincinnati from Detroit. After that, we transferred to the final destination, New York City. Although I agree that it`s a good chance to have many hassles when I am young, these three transformations really made me stomach and fatigued.
- When I came in her home, I felt hungry by the traditional delicious thanksgiving meal odor.
- My aunt`s daughter cooked an amazing thanksgiving dinner for us and I appreciated her very much. This is my aunt and her daughter.
- We ate turkey, apple salad, fried potato, eggs, apple pie, mashed potato, pumpkin pie and wine. Can you image that all those dainty traditional food were cooked by an 18-year-old Chinese girl, even the mashed potato sauce was made from the fresh strawberries!
After the wonderful dinner, I charged an airbed by myself. Here is the airbed. - I edited my third essay until midnight. You see, I am a diligent guy. We woke up at 5am on the black Friday morning for shopping. I spent 3hours in the line in order to get in this goddamn Gucci shop. Tragically, I could not find any nice clothes or bags after I enter the shop. Because I was too late, all the new arrivals were sold out.
- In the evening, we played dota with our English friends on the floor.
- The next day, we visited Manhattan, the 5th avenue, the empire states and Soho. The world is small sometimes; I have met my friends on the 5th avenue in New York.
- I bought a macbook from here and carried it through the whole day! When we arrived at Soho at night, I saw another apple shop there. What a tragedy!
- I always forget to check the price before I pay the regular goods. At that night, I decided to buy some gift for my friends. So I went to a crowded chocolate shop and chose two boxes chocolate randomly. I thought they wouldn`t cost me so much money, because there are so many ordinary people in the shop. I disbelieved my listening at the first time, because I have heard that I should pay 80 dollars for only two boxes chocolates, which just contained 16 in each box. Factually, my listening capability was perfect. It was 80 dollars! I had given the gifts to friends eventually, I didn`t even know how it taste.
- Anyway, I bought a new laptop and few clothes for myself, had an wonderful thanksgiving meal and met my old friends in the NYC. I like my the first thanksgiving vacation in America. How about yours? Should be exciting, isn`t it?
WOW, seems that you got pretty good thanksgiving vacation. As for me, I have eaten a lot of chinese trditional food as well. Since I have been to my uncle's home in Illinois, I met with lots of America born chinese who cannot speak chinese but are able to understand it. I really have good time with them and learnt some American slangs. So this holiday is meaningful for me.
ReplyDeleteI think you had fun during thanksgiving! I really want to go Newyork, too! I went to indiana. It was pretty fun, but my friends were all drunk so I did not have time to tour. Anyway, I was happy because I had great time with my friends. I love to stay with my friends. haha
ReplyDeleteYou had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday! I went to Chicago this holiday. This trip really tired. I think that the traditional thanksgiving dinner was great. I wanted to buy a turkey on November 26, but I did not find it. What a pity! We bought some vegetable and other food, and made Chinese food. This dinner also made me unforgetful.
ReplyDeleteIn the first picture. I know two of them except you, and I have met at least 4 of them before. The world is too small. I know one of them is studying in Brandeis University. Haha, and you had a fantastic thxgiving I think. Good for you...
ReplyDeleteI went to NY, too. I departed MSU on Wednesday early morning, and I arrived at NY about 9am. First day, I went to Harlem and 5th avenue. Second day(thanksgiving day), I watched the parade, and I spent time by sightseeing because most shops were closed. On Black Friday, I woke up early morning, and I went to Soho and 5th avenue to shop. Masy's was super crowded. I could not move in the shop. Next day, I watched musical show in Broadway. It was very interesting. I stayed NY only 4 days. That was not enough for me. I want to go to NY again.
ReplyDeleteWow, it is really rich experience. You must enjoyed it very much, not include the real "tragedy" in the chocolate shop......
ReplyDeleteyes, you are diligent...who knows? haha...
haha,I was live in NYC for 1 year,Its a wonderful city.I went to Chicago for thanks giving, but it was horrible, drive me crazy.I was shopping in Chicago, too.I bought so many stuff. It spent me thousand dollars, but I really enjoyed shopping. However, thanks giving is very important for America.
ReplyDeleteNY is a pretty awesome city, couples of my friends went to NY too. They told me about that the modernization can be seem everywhere. For me about the Thxgiving, I went to Chicago, a series of interesting things and hazzles happened during this trip. However, it is my first time been in such city, I have seen so many innovative events and I really enjoued that.
ReplyDeleteLeo, you know what, there is a guy that i know him. He is not my friend but I always see him in others blog. It's amazing that the world is so small. By the way, Your Thanksgiving must be so good.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your journal. It looks quite interesting. I bought a macbook pro as well. It's really a nice laptop, isn't it? In addition, I know which girl who you said this morning from picture. haha, Not bad. Actually, I plan to go to New York this christmas holiday. As same as you, I am going to meet my old friends and go to some famous place like statue of liberty. I already booked flight ticket. I think it must have much fun on this vocation.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you~~Leo! You really had a great Thanksgiving holiday in New York. I did not have any turkey during the Thanksgigving day. That was kind of sucks~. I wish I can go to New York next year.

ReplyDeleteIt seems you have a wonderful vacation.I did not enjoy the thanksgiving dinner in the vacationm, that was very regret.I have went to shopping at midnight on Black Friday with my friends. That was so interesting.
ReplyDeleteWow, LEo, it seems like you get know a lot of girls here. It looks fun during your thanksgiving holiday. And you even cookeda whole turdey. Be hornestly, Thanksgiving is not really longer with chinese. For, it is just a long break and more resting. I did not go anywhere during this thanksgiving but sleeped a lot. But still, thanks for sharing us your experienment.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am jealous!!! I have fewer friends than you in MSU. Usually I do not have so much time hanging out with someone. Another reason is that I do not like the noisy surrounding. Hope one day the amount of my friends will get higher than you.haha

ON THANKSGIVING DAY, I WAS INVITED TO A PROFESSOR'S DINNER WITH SOME OF OTHER STUDENTS IN THE SAME PROGRAM. THE HOUSE WAS THE LARGEST EVER IN MY LIFE. IT HAD TWO CORRALS (HOWEVER, WITHOUT ANY HORSES), AND A ARTIFICIAL LAKE FOR FISHING IN THE BACKYARD. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS, BUT THAT WAS ALL I DID ON THANKSGIVING. AFTER ALL, I AM A POOR STUDENT WITHOUT ANY MONEY COMING FROM MY PARENTS!
