Japan is wasting foods.

  1. Today, I would like talk about one of the biggest problem in Japan. Maybe, your country has a same or similar problem.
  2. Do you always eat all foods on your dishes? Nowadays, many countries have a problem about food garbage.
  3. Japan imports a lot of foods from foreign countries, because Japan cannot supply enough foods which consumer demand by themselves. The 60% of food which Japanese people eat every day comes from foreign countries. However, we throw away about 19million ton food as garbage every year. It means Japanese people throw away the 25% of food.
  4. If people throw away food, the car gathers them with other garbage, and brings them to the treatment center. The food garbage which was gathered to the center was just burned with other kinds of garbage. Japan uses a lot of energy and money for dumping these garages.
  5. On the other hand, many countries are suffering from lack of food. Some countries subscribe foods to these countries, but it is not enough.
  6. This behavior is very strange. We have to supply appropriate amount foods to appropriate place. What should people do to solve this problem?
  7. First of all, a lot of amount of the garbage is come from restaurants, supermarkets and food producing companies. We often see the foods which passed “best before” clear off the self in the supermarket, and these foods become garbage. That is why, all restaurants, supermarkets and companies have to work on reducing the food garbage. For example, some restaurants are working at making meals without ingredients which customer does not like to prevent from the customer leave the meal.
  8. Nowadays, the survey which garbage changes to feed is developing. People change the garbage to feed, and they give them to livestock. This plan is very good for Japan because Japan imports lots of feed of livestock from foreign countries, and this is a big problem.
  9. However, the nearest for us, and the most important way to solve this problem is decreasing waste of foods in our home. That is why, we must decrease to leave a part of meal. If you live in dorm and you eat in dining hall, you should take foods which you can really eat.
  10. You may say that it will not change if only one try to do that. However, it will not change if nobody tries to decrease food waste. Each of us needs to think about this problem. If the small behaviors gather together, it must be a big action and power!

  1. How to reduce the amount of waste foods is serious problem for every country throughout the world . Because of the difficulty to prevent people from wasting food. personally, I think that education and advertising about the importance of conserving food is a good way to save food resource.

  2. I think it is not only Japan has problem with wasting food. A lot of kids waste foods, even young adults. My parents always say that “eat as much you can, but don’t waste foods.” We always put some foods on our dishes as much we can eat it, so we don’t have to throw away anything. I really don’t like to waste something. I think foods is very important in our life, and if we stop wasting food, and it will make better world.

  3. I also agree with AJ's comment, because wasting foods doesn't happened in Japan, but also in many countries. For example,in China, somewhere has food as beautiful as possible, cook uses as many cooking resouces as possible to bulid meal more beautiful but doesn't consider about whelther the food delicious or not. Therefore, people must think about what's their target to eat food,I think it is not visiting a beautiful food and meal.

  4. That is true. This phenomena is very common in the world. I can't imagine what will happen if we used up our food. We need to raise awareness of saving food. In order to ourself and our children, do not waste food any more. From now then, action.

  5. Thank you for opening this topic, because I do not think it is just Japan that has this problem. In Libya we have the same problem, studies show that every one meals that Libyan family cook they threw away 60% and they eat just 40%, the problem here that Libyan people they do not have culture to put additional food in the refrigerator they need fresh food every time, and cannot eat junk food. I think that this problem just in the rich country because they do not how it is bad when you feel hungry.

That is really a big problem for most countries of the world.People always throw away many food,it waste a large number of material and financial resources. But,there are also a lot of people do not have enough food, then they will be starvation.People always do not have any good ways to solve this problem.Maybe there must have a new balance for it.

  8. food wasting is more serious in my country. Not only my country has a very large population, but also the sense of saving is not developed in everyone's mind. So, there is a more long and difficult way for my country to cover. I hope both of our country can conquer this problem in future.

I HATE TO THROW FOOD AWAY, SO I ALWAYS EAT EVERYTHING I HAVE. SOMETIMES I EAT HALF-ROTTEN FOOD (AND I HAVE HAD FOOD POISONING A FEW TIMES). I PUKED OWING TO OVEREATING TWICE. BUT I JUST CAN'T STAND WASTING FOOD. I AM GLAD THAT I CAN EAT A LOT (BUT I AM ALSO OK TO EAT ONLY A LITTLE.)
